---------------------- www.psychlotron.org.uk ---------------------- Name of resource: Stats & research methods assessment pack Submitted by: Aidan Sammons Specification details: AQA-B Other spec: Details: Scenario-based stats & research methods questions covering aspects of: research methods research design descriptive statistics inferential statistics The .zip file also contains a set of example answers (not definitive) and a MS Word .doc with a feedback grid on it. This breaks down the Qs by area/skill and allows you to give a smiley/flat/frowney face for each Q according to how the student has performed. Each Q has a reference to some reading in a major textbook that the student can follow up on if they need to improve. Readings are from Pennington's AS/A2 books and Coolican's S&RM book (3rd Ed). These can be adapted to fit your resources. My assessment scheme is along the lines of: Smiley - understanding is sound and application to stimulus is appropriate. Flat - understanding is sound but application is absent/inappropriate. Frowney - understanding is unsound. My approach is to delete the follow up refs where the student has earned a 'smiley' and set as an improvement task the readings & modifications to answers where a 'smiley' was not awarded. Clearly, you are quite at liberty to adapt this to suit your own requirements.
