Details: Slideshow introducing the idea of reductionism.  There is an accompanying set of 
cards for the orientation activity that gets students thinking about the relationship
between different types of explanation.  An activity on slide 5 gives accounts of two#
teacher behaviours in unfamiliar terms.  This can be used to get at the idea of
appropriate levels of explanation and the issue of how useful explanations can hope to
be if they are couched at the wrong level.  There are three follow up discussion questions
to start students exploring some of the issues around reductionism.
