------------------ psychlotron.org.uk ------------------ Name of resource: Biological (genetic) theories of offending Author(s): Aidan Sammons Specification: AQA-B Details: Slides covering the main issues & related evidence. The way I do this lesson it's all about how to learn from lectures. Students are given a summary of the evidence only, and told to work out what the content of the lecture will be, using the skills and understanding they have developed during their course. They get about 20 mins for this, then a short lecture (15 mins) covering the main issues fairly rapidly. During the lecture they listen out for points they have missed or misunderstood and augment their own notes accordingly. The final part of the lesson is spent reflecting on and discussing the advantages and disadvantages of this approach compared to their default ways of approaching lectures. Handout covers the main issues.
