------------------ psychlotron.org.uk ------------------ Name of resource: Humanistic Psychology 'Murder Mystery' activity Author(s): Aidan sammons Specification: AQA-B Details: Activity based on a 'Murder Mystery' format I got from Graham Powell. The cards contain an account of the main assumptions of the Humanistic approach and Carl Rogers' principal ideas. The account is broken up so that most cards make reference to concepts on other cards. They are used as follows: Students in groups of 3-4 deal out the cards between them. They are instructed to get a grasp of the main ideas of HP/Rogers using what's on the cards. Only one member of the group may write anything down. No-one may look at anyone else's cards. This activity is highly constructivist in that if students are following the rules they can only achieve the outcome through active sense-making. It's generally found to be very engaging and can be used as a vehicle for all sorts of reflection about the learning process.
